The Mystery Method is replete with talk of so-called attraction switches, but I prefer to call them attraction triggers. It’s stupid semantics, I realize, but calling them switches implies that attraction is always available, we just need to send some juice its way in order to activate it. In actuality, attraction is triggered, meaning that it usually isn’t there, and we need to make it be there.
Regardless of what you call them, every PUA is pretty much in agreement on what they are, although everyone has their own opinion as to which one is the most important, which ones can be safely ignored, etc. I won’t get into that now quite yet, but I’d like to talk briefly about the three most important attraction triggers (or switches, if you like), what they are, and how to use them.
Pre-Selection
Personally, I think this is hands down the most important trigger of attraction that there is. HANDS DOWN. If you master pre-selection, it really doesn’t matter what else you’ve got in your bag of tricks, you will be successful in the field.
That said, you need that bag of tricks in order to get pre-selected! So don’t discard it quite yet!
I am making a subtle point here, so don’t miss it. We know 4s, 5s and 6s can be picked up with ease. 7s and 8s require a solid game. But what about 9s and 10s? A lot of up and coming PUAs find 9s and 10s utterly impossible, regardless of the strength of their game. In fact, I’ve rarely met a PUA-in-training who has any idea what a 9 or 10 even is. For a lot of these guys, when they talk about a HB9 or HB10 they just landed, they are actually talking about HB5-7. I’m not joking. Ask for photo evidence next time someone chats you up about a 9 or 10 they just met.
The reason is, despite what anyone tells you, 9s and 10s do not respond to traditional game!!! The respond to something else entirely, and that is pre-selection.
So we don’t enter the field and start approaching every 9 or 10 we see right away. We approach the 6-8s, attract the hell out of them with routines, charm, natural game, or whatever else you’ve got, until the entire room is buzzing about us. Then, once a substantial amount of buzz has been generated (pre-selection!), we casually move over to the 9s and 10s and lay it down.
Without pre-selection from the 6-8s in the room, you will never, ever score a 9 or 10.
Now, why does this work? Women are wired to choose men with the highest value within their reach. Ugly women will sometimes reject the most valuable man in the room because he is out of their reach. Odd, but true. Conversely, a 9 or 10 will reject you outright if you do not meet her level of expectation. But, and here is the key: women determine your worth based on what other people determine your worth to be. And the more attractive they are the more they depend on the opinions of others.
For the record, this does not mean they are stupid. It is simply how women work. A 9 or 10 will not even consider you unless the rest of the room has pre-selected you. A 9 or 10 is the center of attention of any room she enters. She will expect a mate who is also the center of attention.
But re-read what I wrote. See how easy that is? To be the center of attention, you just need to gain the attention of everyone else but the HB10! Which means, if you are a natural with 6-8s, you are automatically a natural with 9s and 10s.
Leader of Men
A lot of PUAs talk about the leader of men switch. I personally don’t find too much value in this one, but the theory is correct. The idea is simply that women aren’t looking only for a man who can attract women, but a man who can lead men as well. This is simply alpha signaling. Some guys demonstrate this by announcing a job or side activity in which they are leaders of men — for example, they own a business, have a job in management, coach a team, etc. Some demonstrate this by rolling with wingmen who understand that when you open a set, their job is to be led by you. Your wings, in other words, demonstrate to your target that you are their leader. Don’t worry, you will return the favor on their sets.
However you demonstrate this, it is important, but not that important. I personally toss out casual hints that I am a leader of men and just drop it. I either talk about my business, announce freely that I teach men how to meet women, or something similar, then drop it. A true leader of men doesn’t brag about leading men.
Key point: a leader of men is not an abuser of men. Boast of leadership, not abuse. Leaders take the entire group to success. Abusers step all over men to attain their own goals.
Which leads us to the third switch:
Protector of Loved Ones
This is really key. Women, at their core, are really looking for a man who is able, and willing, to take care of those he loves. For her, that may mean her and her children someday.
The key to activating this trigger is to have a cache of stories about moments when you took care of your loved ones. Have a sister? How many times did you help her avoid an idiotic boyfriend? Have you given a female relative advice on how she should be treated by the men in her life? Have you ever put your life in danger to protect someone you care about?
No? What the hell is wrong with you? Seriously, make it up then.
This trigger is activated solely through story telling. So make sure you go in prepared!
