I read a post on mASF yesterday that contained a rather clever nugget on building state.
State is, simply put, your state of mind. The mode you enter the field in. If you are on a high, full of confidence, you are in good state. If you feel like shit, are obsessing about your fat belly, and fresh off getting dumped, you are in poor state.
We control our own state though. You can build your state with practice. Sometimes spending an extra 30 minutes getting ready to go out, or buying new clothes, can do wonders for your state.
The post I’m referencing talked about a really cool technique, which is to open tons of sets on the way to the venue. But not just female sets, or group sets, but janitors, taxi drivers, old couples on the street — whatever. From your front door to the bar, approach everyone, run a little routine, get a laugh, and move on. By the time you reach the club, you will feel like the shit, and the response you get will be astronomical.
